Having started Renewal Coventry over four years ago, Wendy and I feel that it is time to return to Kenya for a year or so, for another season of missionary work. We are delighted to say that Pastor Richard Taylor will be taking over the preaching in our Saturday services, initially up until Christmas. Services will be at the slightly later time of 6.30pm in the same venue (Coventry Methodist Central Hall). We want to publically thank the team at Coventry for their love and support in partnering with us at Coventry. It has been a pleasure to both work with you and to serve you and we are trusting God for really great things in ‘Cov’ in the weeks and months ahead! Our last service will be Saturday 20th September. Richard Taylor will be preaching from the 27th September.

We have Henry Olonga coming to share his story at the next Joy in the City. (Sat 6th Sept - 7.30pm - Coventry Methodist Central Hall - www.joyinthecity.co.uk).
Henry was the first black cricketer to play for Zimbabwe
and at only 18 years old became the youngest player to
represent his country. He made international headlines
when he donned a black armband in the cricket world cup
to protest about the “death of democracy” in Zimbabwe.
He fled the country amid death threats, retiring from
international cricket, finding a new home in England.
Henry has since found leading roles in theatre productions
and has recently completed a contemporary pop album.
Driven by his deep Christian faith, Henry will be sharing
about his journey so far!
This is a great event for the unchurched to hear about Jesus.
Great things are happening in Coventry. Last September we moved our services from Sunday evening to Saturday afternoons (refreshments from 4.30pm/service 5pm) at the Methodist Central Hall…..cafe style! We’ve seen new people come, lives changed, people baptised and an increased take up in our discipleship programs. We have two great Connect groups that meet on a Monday and Thursday evening and even have time for dangerously fun activities like Laser Quest! It’s great to experience unity with other churches and we have been blessed by co-hosting Coventry’s monthly ‘Joy in the City’ meetings with Jubilee church (www.joyinthecity.co.uk) These have been fantastic, with the likes of Cannon and Ball and Boyzone’s Shane Lynch sharing their testimonies. Lives have been transformed as people have come to Christ through these meetings. One of them gets baptised next month! Please pray for us as we seek to impact the City of Coventry with the powerful gospel of Jesus Christ!
Richard Taylor will be sharing his story at the next ‘Joy in the City’ meeting at 7.30pm on Saturday 7th June at Coventry Methodist Central Hall. A great chance to hear how a teenage drug addicted prisioner had his life totally transformed and has become associate pastor of one of the largest churches in the Midlands. Richard’s book ‘to catch a thief’ has just won ‘best biography’ at the 2008 Christian book awards. The book has also been distributed to prisons nationwide. A great opportunity to bring friends and family and hear first hand about the transforming power of God.
