We provide emergency food parcels to people in need, in our local community. It’s quite a simple ministry - but it is incredibly humbling to see the positive impact that this can have on people’s lives.
We feed over 1000 families per year. These families have found themselves in the kind of difficulty that could affect any one of us, such as illness, separation, redundancy or bankruptcy. Social services house these people, but have no facility to provide them with food whilst they are awaiting benefit payments.
There is a gap of anything up to a week during which these families, often with young children, would be unable to buy food. We fill that gap with our fast-response service...delivering food parcels directly to the people that need them, within 24 hours (usually much sooner) of receiving a request. We only provide food, toiletries and baby items. We do not give out cash.
We do this entirely with your generous donations. Many people bring tins and packets to our collection points at our Sunday Services. We also receive collected items from schools and community organsiations, and supermarket collection points. We collect all the items, package them in to family specific boxes, and deliver each day to those that need them.
