Diploma in Christian Life & Service
Accreditation
The Diploma in Christian Life & Service course is accredited with the Open College Network of the West Midlands (OCNWM). OCNWM is a network of colleges, universities, community, adult and voluntary organisations which work together to:
- Promote equal access to education and training for adults;
- Improve the quality and flexibility of learning opportunities;
- Give credit for achievement and progress.
The OCNWM is a licensed member of the Open College Network whose purpose is to accredit programmes of learning by member organisations, which give recognition to achievement through the award of Credit.
All the universities in the West Midlands recognise OCNWM approved Access to Higher Education courses as entry qualifications for degree level study. Therefore those RBTC students who attain the Advanced Diploma will gain a Level 3 Credit with OCNWM and so could use this as part of their entry requirements for university.
Those who attain the Diploma will gain a Level 2 Credit with OCNWM, which is equivalent to a GCSE “pass”, i.e. grades A-C, or NVQ Level 2, or GNVQ Intermediate.
Those who attain the Advanced Diploma will gain a Level 3 Credit with OCNWM, which is equivalent to an A Level pass, or NVQ Level 3, or GNVQ Advanced.
In the future: the RBTC is in discussion with Birmingham Christian College (BCC) for accreditation; we anticipate that agreement will be reached by September 2006 and envisage that not only will students who are successful in passing the Diploma, or Advanced Diploma, gain credits for BCC’s in-house programme of courses, but also for the degree programme (accredited with the University of Wales) offered by BCC.
